Blown Fuse Box
With the main power still off unscrew the blown fuse and remove it.
Blown fuse box. One of the first symptoms of a problem with the fuse box is fuses blowing frequently. The fuse box found in older homes is a protective device that cuts off the electric current to a circuit that has shorted out or is overloaded. If the fuse blows after plugging in or turning on a device that device may have a short or may be placing too much of a load on the circuit. Or it may indicate that your house has too few circuits and is in need of a service upgrade.
When a circuit breaker regularly trips or a fuse repeatedly blows it is a sign that you are making excessive demands on the circuit and need to move some appliances and devices to other circuits. For a fuse box. The box contains little screw in glass or porcelain. The fuse box may have to be disassembled or removed in order to determine if this is the issue.
Thats your broken fuse. If your electrical panel has fuses check each fuse to see if the piece of metal inside has melted or if the glass window at the top of the fuse has become discolored usually purple or brown. It usually turns brown or purple if the fuse has blown. If your panel has a fuse box and does not consist of circuit breakers check each fuse to see whether the wire inside it has melted or if the glass window at the top of it has discolored.
Check the labeled area that corresponds to the part of the house that lost power. A blown fuse may be discolored cloudy or have a melted or broken metal piece inside. Turn off the main power switch to disconnect power to the fuse box. Another cause of a blown fuse occurs when a hot wire somewhere in the system touches either the grounding pathway or a neutral wire.
If no fuses were blown and you still do not have power at an outlet make certain that the switch if any that controls the outlet is turned on. Now you need to locate the blown fuse. Another symptom of a bad or failing fuse box is loose fuses. The vehicle may blow the same fuse repeatedly for no apparent reason.
